The human immune system is a sensitive system that reacts sensitively to external disturbances, toxins such as nicotine or alcohol, high levels of stress or a poor, unbalanced diet.
If you want to strengthen your immune system, you can support your body with simple and effective measures in maintaining the immune functions.
Causes of a weakened immune system
The immune system works 24 hours a day, seven days a week to isolate, neutralize and remove fungi, viruses, bacteria and pollutants in the body. So-called micronutrients are consumed regularly. Micronutrients is the generic term for vitamins, trace elements, minerals and amino acids.
The more the immune system is strained by illnesses, stress or a large number of different germs, the more of these substances are needed.
You come into contact with a large number of different pathogens, especially in large crowds, as well as in places where many people are at short notice. Examples are
- large offices,
- public transport such as bus, train or plane,
- Kindergarten, schools or universities.
Patients with chronic and acute and chronic diseases often have an increased need for vitamins, trace elements and amino acids.
The immune system also declines with age. Then it is particularly recommended to strengthen the body’s own immune system in a targeted manner.
How does the immune system work?
The first protective wall of our body is the skin or mucous membrane. This external immune defense is the mechanical barrier that protects us from pathogens. Body secretions are also formed in the skin, which either inhibit harmful pathogens or promote beneficial bacteria in the intestinal and mucous membrane flora (lysozyme).
In the description of our internal immune system, physicians differentiate between two different types of defense:
- the non-specific defense or “innate immune response”, and
- the specific defense (acquired immune response).
The non-specific immune defense is the body’s first reaction to substances it is not familiar with. The function is innate. Natural phagocytes (phagocytes) and killer cells (lymphocytes) try to identify these pathogens that have managed to get through our skin or mucous membrane. They enclose the pathogens and eat them up.
It is estimated that over 90% of all pathogens can be eliminated by healthy skin function and non-specific defense.
The specific immune defense is used when the natural scavenger cells are unable to locate the pathogen. When they come into contact with a virus, fungus or bacteria, so-called B-lymphocytes and T-lymphocytes develop the ability to first recognize and then label these pathogens. Labeling is done by the B cells. Due to the specific proteins (called “antibodies”), which the pathogen then carries with it, the phagocytes of the unspecific defense receive a signal that these substances are to be destroyed. In this way, non-specific defenses and specific defenses work hand in hand.
All defense cells areleukocytes“. These are formed in the bone marrow by the blood stem cells.”cytokines” are the messenger substances by means of which the components of the immune system can influence each other.
The organs that build and strengthen the immune system are:
- lymph nodes
- Almonds (palatine tonsils, adenoids)
- spleen
- Colon
- bone marrow
- Thymus
Strengthen the immune system with vitamins
Vitamins play a central role in human metabolism. Vitamins are defined special compounds that humans cannot produce themselves. He must supply these thirteen vitamins from the outside with food in order to maintain his physiological functions. In other words, to stay healthy.
In the event of a vitamin deficiency, the body reacts by gradually reducing important functions. The first visible and noticeable signs of an undersupply of vitamins or trace elements can include:
- Fatigue, sleep disturbances
- susceptibility to stress,
- bad mood or mood swings,
- reduced mental and physical performance,
- hair loss and
- susceptibility to disease.
Sufficient availability, adapted to your personal situation (stress, age, required performance, illnesses, contact with pathogens, etc.) is important so that your immune system can work smoothly. In particular these are:
- Vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin B2 and vitamin B12 contribute to the normal functioning of the immune system.
- Vitamin A also has a function in the specialization of cells.
- Free radicals, such as those created by the immune system, can destroy cells. Therefore, protection against free radicals through antioxidants is also important. Vitamin B2, vitamin E and vitamin C help protect cells from oxidative stress.
Support the immune system with trace elements
Just like vitamins, trace elements must be taken regularly through food. The only difference between trace elements and minerals is the amount that is required: the body needs rather small amounts of trace elements in the range of micrograms to a few milligrams per day, the need for minerals such as calcium and magnesium is several hundred milligrams per day. The deficiency symptoms of trace elements are similar to those of vitamins (see above).
Trace elements are of central importance in many metabolic processes, in particular they also contribute to a healthy immune system:
- Copper, iron and selenium contribute to the normal functioning of the immune system.
- Zinc also has a role in cell division.
- Zinc, selenium, manganese and copper help protect cells from oxidative stress.
More tips to strengthen the immune system
A well-functioning immune system also depends on sufficient sleep, little stress and exercise:
- Get enough sleep. The body regenerates itself during sleep. When you are stressed, you need more sleep. You can help fall asleep better, for example by reading a good book instead of an exciting action film. Even going for a walk in the evening can help you fall asleep.
- Walks, fresh air and exercise are another factor in boosting your immune system. Also, stay physically active.
- During phases of illness, however, you should not overdo it with sport and better take a break.
- Try to reduce stress. Try to avoid the temptation to use alcohol to relieve stress. Both stress and alcohol can negatively affect the immune system.
Concentrated vitamins for the immune system
Eating at least five servings of fruit and vegetables a day is recommended by theGerman Society for Nutrition e.V., DGE. If you don’t manage to do this, you probably have a deficit in vitamins and trace elements. Even with stress and a lot of contact with pathogens, it is advisable to supplement vitamins and trace elements to support the immune system.
amitamin © immun360 + Cranberry provides you with ALL the vitamins and important trace elements for a strong immune system. This includes amitamin © immun360 + Cranberry still valuable cranberry extract and pine bark extract and specific amino acids that are involved in the specific and non-specific defense.
